Study notes on Psalm 85

following are some observations on Psalm 85: 1-3 NIV

1 You showed favor to your land, O LORD ; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. 2 You forgave the iniquity of your people and covered all their sins. Selah 3 You set aside all your wrath and turned from your fierce anger.

notice that in the first three verses God does at least three things

1. He shows his favor
2. He forgives our sins
3. He extinguishes the fire of his fury

God always begins in this way, by showing first his favor and acceptance of us.This acceptance moves him to forgive us completely and forever.Having accepted, and forgiven us there is no longer any fuel for his fiery anger which beforehand we so richly deserved
